1/4 + 7/12 is larger than 1/2 + 1/6 because on a clock, 1/4 is 15 minutes and 7/12 is 35 minutes. Together, both of them equals 45 minutes.

1/2 is 30 minutes on a clock and 1/6 is 10 minutes on a clock. Together, both of the fractions equals 40 minutes.

So that proves 1/4 + 7/12 is larger than 1/2 +1/6
