Chaseley's First Growing Post
1/2 of a clock would be 30 minutes because 60 ÷ 2 = 30.
1/6 of a clock would be 10 minutes because 60 ÷ 6 = 10.
30 + 10 = 40 or 4/6
----------------------------------------------------------------
1/4 of a clock would be 15 minutes ( 60 ÷ 4 = 15 )
7/12 of a clock would be 35 minutes (60 ÷ 12 = 5 x 7=35)
15 + 35 = 50 or 5/6
so that means 1/4 + 7/12 is larger than 1/2 + 1/6.
5. One thing about our bike race is that we used a
legend to mark the stations so it would be more
organized instead of all over the place. Another thing
would be how we made the map. We labeled the
map by every km mark.
------------------------------------------------------
7. What we did for the bike race was divide how
long the bike race was (60 km) by how much every
km mark it was at. (eg . 60 ÷ 12 = 5 , so we marked every km marking
every time by counting by 5's.) thats also what we did with the third and sixth.
(third= 60 ÷ 3 = 20) (sixth= 60 ÷ 6 = 10) we also showed our work by using the
chopping method. we kept repeating this method when we
did the other stations too. I've noticed that when it is half way
through the race all the stations are in one place. same goes
when you are done the race. Another pattern would be when
we count by 5,10,20... and 20,40,60... etc.

This game is really great, its all about adding fractions together.
If you're not at good at adding fractions that much you can go
on easy. Theres also other kinds of games you can play like
subtracting fractions , dividing and many more. Its like everytime
you add a fraction you get a score! I think its good because in
class we all learned about how to add fractions. This is just another
way of adding fractions in a fun way.
8. one way of finding 3/4 of 22 would be:
1.) 22 ÷ 2 = 11
2.) 11 ÷ 2 = 5.5
3.) 11+5.5= 16.5
another way to find 3/4 of 22 would be:
1.) 22 ÷ 4 x 3 = 16.5
9. question: find which fraction is larger and show your work.
4/12 + 1/3 < 1/4 + 10/12
-------------------------------------------------------
60 ÷ 12 = 5 x 4 = 20 minutes
60 ÷ 3 = 20 minutes
20 + 20 = 40
**so 4/12 + 1/3 = 40/60 or 4/6
-----------------------------------------
60 ÷ 4 = 15 minutes
60 ÷ 12 = 5 x 10 = 50 minutes
15+50= 65
**so 1/4 + 10/12 = 65/60 or 1 hour and minutes
-----------------------------------------
if you compare the two 65/60 is larger than 40/60.
